This Privacy Policy explains how the ChoreBrawl team (“ChoreBrawl,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the ChoreBrawl mobile application and related services (the “Service”). 1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account information. Your email address, which we use to sign you in via a one-time code or magic link.
- Profile information. A display name and, optionally, an avatar.
- Household and gameplay data. The household you create or join (including its name, invite code, and time zone), the chores in your catalog (including custom chores you add), and the chore logs, scores, streaks, and match results you generate while playing.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data. Basic technical information such as device type, operating system version, app version, and the timestamps of in-app activity, which help us operate and troubleshoot the Service.
- Diagnostic data. If the app crashes or errors, we may collect diagnostic logs to fix the problem.
We do not knowingly collect precise location data, contacts, photos, or other sensitive personal information beyond what is described above.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Authenticate you and maintain your account;
- Operate the core gameplay loop — linking you with your household partner, recording chore logs, computing rope position, scores, streaks, and monthly and yearly results;
- Sync game state in real time between the two players in a household;
- Maintain, troubleshoot, secure, and improve the Service;
- Communicate with you about service-related matters and respond to support requests;
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
3. Information Visible to Your Household Partner
ChoreBrawl is a two-player game. By design, the other member of your household can see your display name and avatar, the chores you log, your contribution to the rope, your scores, and your streaks. Only share a household with someone you trust.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as follows:
- Service providers. We use Supabase as our backend provider for authentication, database, and real-time synchronization, and we rely on cloud hosting infrastructure to run the Service. These providers process your data on our behalf and under contractual obligations to protect it.
- App stores. The Apple App Store and Google Play Store distribute the app and may process data subject to their own privacy policies.
- Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or valid legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of ChoreBrawl, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers. If ChoreBrawl is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.
5. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Note that game data shared with your household partner may remain visible to them as part of the household’s history.
6. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls at the database level. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. International Data Transfers
Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than the one in which you live. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we take steps to ensure it remains protected in accordance with this Policy and applicable law.
8. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You can update your profile in the app and request account deletion from within the app or by contacting us. We will respond to verified requests as required by applicable law, including the GDPR and the CCPA/CPRA where they apply.
9. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, if higher). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Service or by other reasonable means and update the effective date above. Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
